Commitment to Community

With our commitment to a circular economy and community, we thought it was only fitting to donate a Recreational Playspace to a local recipient.

With the negative impact that Covid-19 is having in all our lives, we wanted to do something that helped with our ‘feel good’ vibe for the community.   Our staff get to know that their hard work has contributed to such a great cause and be part of something special, that has the potential to make someone’s day.

St Thomas More in Mount Eliza were having their annual raffle to raise money for sustainability initiatives throughout the school.  It was decided that our Recreational Playspace would be donated as a prize to be won at their raffle.

St Thomas More’s School is a Catholic Parish Primary School located in Mt Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula. The school was established in 1981 and is an integral part of the St Thomas More Parish community. We positively and actively recognise the strength of our vibrant community and are enriched by the partnerships between staff, parents, students and parish.*

Student wellbeing is also of utmost importance to all at St Thomas More. Our key value of respect is taught and lived in every classroom and underpins all interactions in and around our school. A range of programs and initiatives also support students in the area of social and emotional learning. These include regular wellbeing classes, class meetings, social skills groups and lunchtime clubs. These initiatives and others ensure that children feel a strong sense of safety and belonging to school and provide the best possible environment for learning to take place.*

With our Recreational Playspaces being constructed with at least 70% recycled or repurposed materials, it made sense that we would provide one, to a school whose values and focus were in line with our own.

Collaborating and supporting likeminded businesses and organisations is so important at ML&H, with the focus being on building long term relationship built on sustainable values.

Supporting and encouraging a circular economy is part of the ML&H culture, aiming to reuse, and repurpose as much as possible.  Diverting waste from landfill and giving it a second life is an integral part of our commitment to the environment.

The prize included:

–        Recreational Play space
–        Blackboard background
–        Custom Shop Sign
–        Designer Styling consultation

Ensuring that the Playspaces are as personalised as the little person they are for is so important to ML&H.
With the winner’s permission, we will keep you updated on this journey and show the final result for the lucky recipient.
